Chris Dobrowolski

Chris Dobrowolski

For Hatch: It’s about time, Chris Dobrowolski presented two performance talks in Leicester and Nottingham: Landscape, Seascape, Skyscape, Escape and Antarctica. At art college Chris Dobrowolski discovered that art could theoretically be anything. Consequently he made a boat from driftwood and tried to escape from art college in it…he failed. This led to a series of vehicles that are predominantly made from recycled materials that have a deliberate “knocked up in my garden shed” feel about them. In an on going attempt to escape the art world Chris has recently been an artist in residence with the British Antarctic Survey. His second performance lecture – Antarctica – concentrated on his efforts to justify his existence in a physical and metaphorical blank canvas while everyone else around him try’s to work out how to save the planet.
