Hatch: Abroad

Nottingham’s most mobile platform for performance-y work responded to nottdance09 by going abroad at various locations along Broad Street in Nottingham. Hatch: Abroad took off at Nottingham Arts Theatre with The Pilots by Nottingham-based performance company Reckless Sleepers. Following a year of events at individual venues, Hatch took over a whole street. From picture houses to tearooms, commissioned work inhabited shop windows and restaurant tables, pub basements and areas usually closed to the public. Hatch: Abroad invited emerging and established artists from around the East Midlands to explore themes of migration and vacation as they presented their work within a single post code. Supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, Dance4, New College Nottingham, Nottingham Arts Theatre and Broadway Cinema.
