Medium Rare

Hatch worked with Medium Rare – a group of Fine Art students from Nottingham Trent University – to create a piece of work in response to a hotel on St. James’s Street at Hatch: Across. The Park Plaza generously agreed to let the group invite the audience to a hotel room to experience one-to-one encounters. A hotel is a transitional place with the staff as the only permanent figures. The hotel room as a space remains timeless; it is always returned to its original state. The sequence becomes a ritual that would play with the notion of time passing, and exaggerate the fast turnover of hotel guests.   Medium Rare aimed to confront the audience with something they are both aware of but would not normally have to encounter. Hatch: Across was supported by Nottingham Trent University, Lakeside Arts Centre, The Malt Cross and The Park Plaza.
